2004-02-23 [Tal Anduril]: I'll do that
2004-02-23 [Nere]: ....glad to be of service......
2004-02-23 [Hello Sunshine]: *Waves* Hi Nere!
2004-02-24 [Nere]: *waves* hey.....so what do you think?
2004-02-24 [Hello Sunshine]: It's cool. And at the moment I'm so happy! ^^
2004-02-24 [Hello Sunshine]: Can I put a poem into the nature?
2004-02-24 [wildCARD]: Hey... About some of these sections... I think they are a little vague, as in a lot of my (and other people's) poems could fit into more than one of the existing categories. I'm pulling for the creation of two new categories: "Love" and "Controversial
2004-02-24 [Nightshadow]: Well, not saying the new categories are a bad idea...but poems will always fit across categories. The categories are vague because poems themselves are vague/abstract
2004-02-24 [wildCARD]: Yeah, good point. But I think there should be at least a "Controversial
2004-02-26 [Tal Anduril]: Ok new category suggestions so far are: Humor, Happy (though I'd like to rephrase that one), Love, and Controversial. I'll add them this week, so if you want to start writing for those categories go ahead, just don't submit them yet.
2004-03-01 [Tal Anduril]: Ok, I was just wondering if those poems that sort of dot the wiki are a good thing or a bad thing. So I made a poll. <poll:15433>
2004-03-01 [wildCARD]: Whoa, I was completely expecting to be forced into probation for that last one I posted for the Humor category... cool.
2004-03-02 [Tal Anduril]: Well I happen to think it's funnier than hell, but then again I have an odd sense of humor.
2004-03-03 [wildCARD]: Heh... that's good. I think it's partially funny because of the painfully forced rhymes...
2004-03-03 [wildCARD]: (posts)Yay, politics poetry.
2004-03-05 [wildCARD]: Whoa... I like "Hey God?"
2004-03-06 [Nightshadow]: Thanks much.
2004-03-08 [wildCARD]: Okay... Realistic is going to stay a tie forever unless people get voting. (nudges all over to the poll)
2004-03-09 [Karisla Sorium]: um...perhaps..
2004-03-09 [Nightshadow]: Let's not get too many categories going here...while poems could be found for any category, having too will spread submissions too thin and challengers will become harder and harder to come across.
2004-03-09 [SeLoCeS]: but it could make people put more poems in also
2004-03-09 [Nightshadow]: Possible, but unfortunately unlikely. If the submissions increased a little, and the categories a lot...well I'm not great at math but it seems pretty straightforwar
2004-03-09 [SeLoCeS]: mmm i guess so shrugs walks away scribbling again in her well worn notebook
2004-03-09 [Nightshadow]: Just lost mine...*grumbl
2004-03-09 [SeLoCeS]: omg that is really bad i would hate it if i lost mine *hugs her book tightly to her chest*
2004-03-09 [Nightshadow]: Eh...it's just losing my best scribblings--w
2004-03-09 [Hello Sunshine]: ...
2004-03-09 [SeLoCeS]: well i guess have to start again but thats not always that fun
2004-03-09 [wildCARD]: Bummer. I remember when I lost my song notebook.. It had every punk song I had ever written since 4th grade... :(
2004-03-09 [SeLoCeS]: i left my story book as in the one with my main writtings in at work thank god my best mate was still there and grabbed it for me
2004-03-10 [Tal Anduril]: Ok, I was just wondering if anyone actually goes and looks at the Participaing Duelists page? If not I'm thinking of removing it. So what do you think?
2004-03-10 [SeLoCeS]: man i cant believe it my poem is gone ta for who ever just deleted it from the page
2004-03-10 [SeLoCeS]: you do realise i was one of the origional people to help make this place
2004-03-10 [Nightshadow]: Well Tal asked everyone's opinions on the poems scattered all over awhile ago...he had a poll up to ask people if they liked them or if they cluttered things. I guess the poll spoke. Nothing against the poems, I'm sure they were quite good...just a matter of practicality and majority rule.
2004-03-10 [wildCARD]: Jeeze. Anyone for Humor?
2004-03-10 [SeLoCeS]: mmmm i guess asking the person who helped design the page didnt matter
2004-03-10 [Nightshadow]: Don't shoot the messenger. ^_^;
2004-03-10 [SeLoCeS]: fine it just fits it to the rest of the crapy week i have had the way things are going the house will fall in .......
2004-03-12 [Tal Anduril]: Just so you know, I didn't just delete it. It's sitting on the Olde poems page, Fifth page I think.
2004-03-12 [Tal Anduril]: Another thing, I asked before doing anything to this page who was in charge, no one answered. If you don't like the way I've done things fine; you do it. (I've got other things to do anyway. And so shooting me is just fine right?)
2004-03-12 [Therian]: Happy to oblige.
2004-03-12 [SeLoCeS]: the reason i didnt answer you when you ask was i was away so i couldnt
2004-03-12 [Tal Anduril]: Well, the question remains: Do you want it?
2004-03-12 [SeLoCeS]: look its fine last week i was having a bad week and it just effected me more than it should have i guess and well if everyone though it should go i guess its gone
2004-03-13 [wildCARD]: Okay, is there ANYONE ELSE HERE who can write poetry people will laugh at? If so, please challenge my poem! It's kinda boring just seeing it sit there without anything to go against it.
2004-03-14 [Nightshadow]: I have the sense of humour for a soggy, week-old sponge.
2004-03-14 [Tal Anduril]: lol. Ok, now just add a few more lines and we'll have a poem.
2004-03-14 [valeshadow]: Well, wildCARD, I'll take a look through my tome of scribblings and I'm sure that I have something in there that will fit the humor catagory, just gotta find that tome. Let me see, where did I leave it...
2004-03-14 [wildCARD]: Heheh... Bowly War... Nice, valeshadow.
2004-03-18 [Karisla Sorium]: So...if someone submits a poem...does it automatically get used (I did read everything.,..
2004-03-19 [Nightshadow]: Yeah. It has to wait in line, and when it's your turn...you duel.
2004-03-19 [Wild~Fire]: Could there be a "Fantasy" catergory as well... oh yeah hi everyone.. been a while um.. yeah... bye. lol.
2004-03-21 [wildCARD]: lol... (checks humor poll results) i am the king of ties! (must be others besides me that live in kentucky, heh)
2004-03-21 [Tal Anduril]: lol
2004-03-23 [Karisla Sorium]: where the heck did the rest of the duel um...shoot words keep evading me...the catagories! Thats it!
2004-03-23 [Tal Anduril]: Only the duels that are currenly running have links on this page. You can go to The Dueling Arena to see all the categories, but as you will see most are awating challengers.
2004-03-23 [Tal Anduril]: Ok well I did ask this eariler, but I'll ask again... with a poll this time. Anyway, does anyone actually look at the Participaing Duelists page? If not then I'll consider removing the link, since if no one is looking there then it's simply a wasted effort on the part of the volunteers. So I'd like to hear your opinion at <poll:17004> And if your thoughts are not listed on the poll leave me a msg, and I'll see if I can add something.
2004-03-23 [SeLoCeS]: im guessing you meant to leave that img link like that
2004-03-24 [Tal Anduril]: pretty much, it's a red version of the banner above, since I've had a few requests banner links.
2004-03-25 [valeshadow]: Hmm, seems the tie has been broken wildCARD...but then, every king must one day fall. Hmm, sounds like the start of another poem *slips out his quill and starts scribbling in his tome*
2004-03-25 [wildCARD]: Yeah, if this was more kentucky based i would have owned... because ALL of those things I said are true.
2004-03-26 [Nightshadow]: Does the phrase "graceful loser" mean anything to you, perchance?
2004-03-26 [wildCARD]: What the... I wasn't being a sore loser in any way... It'd be awfully stupid of me to do so considering I just won the Realistic category with a single poem twice in a row. I actually said above that I was surprised I got so many votes in the first place, because of the subject matter. Don't judge me. Also take note that an above comment states that I LIKED Bowly War. I knew from the second it was posted that it was going to beat me, although I was amazed the margin was so small... just please don't say anything like that about me. It was really an unfair judgement.
2004-03-26 [Tal Anduril]: Just wondering, is anyone here bickering? *coughrulenumb
2004-03-26 [Nightshadow]: Ah...so that is a rule. Okay...I'll cut it out though I'm still glad to privately defend what I said. (aka message unless someone wants to keep the peace)
2004-03-26 [wildCARD]: Heh. Sorry, I thought that wouldn't include defending oneself, but in any case, I agree. Sorry.
2004-03-26 [Karisla Sorium]: oi im doing so good :P...meh... I'll just keep in mind that no one really will understand it :P
2004-03-27 [valeshadow]: No worries wildCARD, I'm sort of surprised I'm ahead in the votes, beginners' luck I guess. It's my first actual duel, so it is good for the ego. Hope that I get a challenge for the one that I submitted for "to make you think", I'ld like to see how that one fares.
2004-03-28 [Tal Anduril]: It'll come up... eventually, To Make You Think is just a little too popular. Well that's good in a way I guess.
2004-03-28 [valeshadow]: Guess I'll have to submit one for every catagory...I think I have one for every catagory...*ch
2004-04-02 [ElizabethBathory]: my heart has been broken
2004-04-02 [SilverBlue82]: so when i submit a poem do i have to wait until the submission page is cleared or can i just add another poem under one that is always up there?
2004-04-02 [Nightshadow]: nah...just make a line and submit.
2004-04-02 [SilverBlue82]: sweet
2004-04-05 [O_O]: ^__^ this is a muy sehr nifty idea!
2004-04-09 [thestranger]: are there any length restrictions?
2004-04-09 [Tal Anduril]: it hasn't come up, how long do you want it to be?
2004-04-09 [thestranger]: I was just wondering in general... because I know the daily poem has length restrictions
2004-04-10 [Tal Anduril]: Like I said we don't have a rule since it's never come up, just be aware that you may loose people if you make the poem too long.
2004-04-10 [wildCARD]: Hmph. I usually don't like to double up, but I'm feeling the need to submit another poem.
2004-04-10 [Tal Anduril]: Note to all: Submit now! cause I'll be gone in a few hours (out til the 18th) so it may be awhile til it's approved if you wait
2004-04-10 [SilverBlue82]: your not having someone else help appove while your gone?
2004-04-10 [wildCARD]: Mmk, hope i didn't submit too late, but I decided to write another humor poem.
2004-04-11 [Nightshadow]: *ahem* Update 2: Thanks to hard work by [Hedda], [Elftron]'s filter has been removed, so that it does not crash every time a member is rude, just in time for us to say Happy April Fool's day. Yes, it was a joke, and we had some interesting comments come out of it.
2004-04-11 [Nightshadow]: Though I'll note they did go on to say not to swear too excessively, and the two bans for too-extensive profanity were quite real. Just so everyone knows a single inappropriate word here and there won't get you banned.
2004-04-12 [Tári Nénharma]: Thanks, Nightshadow. Well, we did bite...
2004-04-15 [LonelyTylenol]: Hi. I'm just waiting for you to hopefully except the poem I wrote for the realistic category. Looks like you've been waiting for a challenger... I guess I'm in then, right?
2004-04-15 [Tári Nénharma]: I think you're in, Leggie. Just a minute while I update submissions. For anyone who didn't know, Tal is out and you can address comments and questions to me here for the week. He won't answer until after the 18th.
2004-04-15 [Tári Nénharma]: This page is nominated at Featured Wiki nominations. You can add reasons you like it.
2004-04-16 [LonelyTylenol]: Someone really should update the Participating duelists page.
2004-04-17 [SilverBlue82]: AH who won the last Love... poll it was a really close one
2004-04-17 [All Natural]: "Candle Light" had a narrow victory over "No excuse"
2004-04-17 [SilverBlue82]: thank you
2004-04-17 [OvertheMoooon]: Smitten
2004-04-18 [Dark Kin]: I don't know if anyonen is online right now, but Dark is very close, so vote if you haven't!
2004-04-19 [Karisla Sorium]: erm....can someone tell me whats wrong with my poem?...person
2004-04-19 [SilverBlue82]: which is your poem?
2004-04-19 [Orey]: hello... just hoping through [SilverBlue82]'s place and came across this....... sounded fun!
2004-04-19 [adnihilo]: it is!
2004-04-19 [Orey]: ok so what goes on here?
2004-04-20 [SilverBlue82]: AH you come through my house and didnt listen to rule 2 :( lol sorry i take my house rules seriously
2004-04-20 [Orey]: I did say Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!
2004-04-20 [SilverBlue82]: lol ok i believe you :)
2004-04-20 [Orey]: lol see! told you!
2004-04-20 [Karisla Sorium]: Mine is The Son...in um...oh Fantasy...
2004-04-20 [wildCARD]: (glances at the "Humor" results, chuckling.) Ah, I knew it wasn't funny. I just don't like stagnation.
2004-04-21 [LonelyTylenol]: I wish somebody would bote for my poem. Only I'm not allowed to tell you 'vote for mine!' because that's cheating. So just please, peoples, vote in the realistic poll.
2004-04-21 [LonelyTylenol]: Are you allowed to submit a poem twice if it's in a different category the second time?
2004-04-21 [Tal Anduril]: I don't think so, though that hasn't come up before.
2004-04-22 [Orey]: go to Orey's Poetry and tell me what you think plz!!!
2004-04-23 [LonelyTylenol]: Well, I had it under realistic and I'm wondering if I could put it under sad... Doesn't really matter. I'm just... not likely to write another poem. I'm not a big poet.
2004-04-24 [Tal Anduril]: I'd really rather not have the same poem entered twice, if it had been awaiting the duel I would have been ok with moving it to a new category, but once it's dueled that's sort of it.
2004-04-24 [Tal Anduril]: New subject: Ok if you haven't already voted at Fantasy <poll:18768>, Vote!!! (And yeah I know about the "lemon currey")
2004-04-24 [Faelover]: Are we allowed to vote for our own poem and can we putmore than one poem in the same submission?
2004-04-25 [Tal Anduril]: Yes, you can vote for you're own poem. (Though it would be appreciated if you would vote for not because it was "your poem," but that you felt it was the better of the two options.) And you may enter more than one poem in the same category, (if that's what you mean) but since we'd rather not have you duel yourself, there may come a time when that second (or third or 15th entry) may be passed over in favor of another artist.
2004-04-26 [Karisla Sorium]: Tal...did you tell people to vote in fantasy for any particular reason???:S...
2004-04-26 [Tal Anduril]: It was tied at the time I asked them to vote.
2004-04-27 [Karisla Sorium]: ah I see :)
2004-04-27 [Karisla Sorium]: thx :P
2004-04-27 [wildCARD]: (looks at his new Realistic competition.) (Gapes at the awesomeness that is "Reality.") (votes.) Hey, Self Destruct has won three times in a row, and as I said above... I hate stagnation. :)
2004-04-28 [Tal Anduril]: Ok well Jovial has been up for the some time now, but no one has entered. Doesn't anyone have happy poems?
2004-04-28 [SilverBlue82]: you guys are looking for help
2004-04-29 [Tal Anduril]: Yeah, actually we are.
2004-04-29 [Tári Nénharma]: We ARE looking for help! I don't know if you've done this yet, but you can message [Tal Anduril] at his house. He screens, and either one of us can train you in if you make it. It's a highly organized business here (but kick-a** fun!) (I'm in a really good mood, I usually don't use that phrase)
2004-04-30 [LonelyTylenol]: By the way, Tari, you're going to train me. Ha ha! Aren't sisters grand? Don't worry. I'll be good. And I think I already know everything I have to do. Mostly... I think... I've watched enough times.
2004-05-01 [Nightshadow]: wildCARD, by a sole vote. Both entries were quite good.
2004-05-01 [Dil*]: kinda weird cause when i checked it out in the morning, the other guy was winning.
2004-05-01 [wildCARD]: And it's about time I won for something other than Realistic. Jeeze. I thought for a while that I only had one good poem. :)
2004-05-01 [Faelover]: Hey [wildCARD] thanks for the compliment on 'Reality', coming from you that's something- love your poems.
2004-05-02 [WarChiefFanguan]: hello everyone! Good job making one of the top 10 wikis of the month of april!
2004-05-02 [Faelover]: very cool!
2004-05-02 [wildCARD]: :) Thanks. It's not often I get anything but sarcastic comments and rude gestures from anyone on Elftown, so that really means a lot to me. :)
2004-05-02 [Faelover]: i only speak the truth no thanks required :-) and report those people who are mean they'll give elftown a bad name-by the way i love your sad poem a lot ;-)
2004-05-02 [Tári Nénharma]: I must say, the poems this week are top-notch! Good batch here!
2004-05-03 [wildCARD]: Heh. Not afraid to admit that I cried when I wrote it... Might be because as a kid, I really was too cynical to see the man on the moon, and i was talking with my mom, we got into an argument and she brought up how dark and cynical i was, and mentioned it... inspired me to write that poem.
2004-05-03 [Faelover]: i think it's one of your best made me tear up too
2004-05-03 [Tári Nénharma]: It's beautiful. I'm not biased when I say that, I swear. If you tinkered and "finished" it, whatever that means to a poet, you could get it published.
2004-05-03 [Faelover]: i agree its a really touching poem... definately publish-able material
2004-05-03 [wildCARD]: Mm. While that's flattering, I don't think I'd want to tinker it at all... I rarely touch anything I write, songs or poetry, after I write them, mostly because as I post them here, I'm making them up as I go along. To change it later would mean the spur of the moment integrity of the poem would be killed.
2004-05-04 [Forever Yours]: hey is there any limit on how long the poem can be?
2004-05-05 [Tal Anduril]: It just has to be within reason. We don't have an official limit, but if you make it too long people won't read it.
2004-05-05 [Forever Yours]: ok- mines kinda long, but each line has like a max of 6 or 7 words..and most are 1-3 words
2004-05-05 [SeLoCeS]: Tal_Anduril if you wish me to join back with the staff of this page message as i was one of the group who helped start it
2004-05-05 [OceanBorn]: Hm...my poem was posted on the sad page, and now...its gone?
2004-05-05 [Tári Nénharma]: [OceanBorn], an update: your poem was submitted, but it's still awaiting duel. If there is not an unbreakable tie between the two at Sad now, you will be in the running May 9th. Let me know if you have more questions!
2004-05-05 [OceanBorn]: oh right, thankyou! ^_^ Btw, you know what would be a good idea? A links page, then you could swap links with other wiki pages *nodds*
2004-05-06 [Dil*]: oOOooooOOOoooO
2004-05-06 [Tal Anduril]: I’ll be debating same-sex marriage in the days ahead. The main argument that I have heard against it (though I’m sure there are others) is that “It is against Christian teachings.” Please be truthful. <poll:20643> If you have any comments on the matter one way or the other, please feel free to send me a message. My view on the matter can be viewed at this link.
2004-05-06 [Doormat]: and that's why am an atheist :D
2004-05-06 [wildCARD]: DiabloJr, I'm using the same poems because they win. If a poem wins, it keeps going until it loses.
2004-05-06 [Doormat]: So you're telling me...you haven't lost in the sad category for like 4 weeks?
2004-05-06 [wildCARD]: ... Two polls lengths. You could probably see that if you went to the winning duelists page. I actually had a poem for realistic that won three polls straight.
2004-05-07 [Nightshadow]: Point of clarification diablo...more than one Christian denomination supports gay marriage and gay ordination, and many individual members of the other sects do, too.
2004-05-07 [wildCARD]: Umm, quick question here. I posted a poem for the Controversial category, and it's not on the Duelist Submissions page, and it's not on the Controversial page... Where it go?
2004-05-08 [Doormat]: oh well i'm an atheist anyways :D
2004-05-08 [Dil*]: yeah all these religious crazy people really put me off, suicide bombing muslins and crusading christians.
2004-05-08 [Doormat]: omg...it's happening again...i'm gonna lose by 1...watch..
2004-05-08 [Faelover]: that's right i forgot who the duelers were- good luck! :-)
2004-05-08 [Doormat]: i lost by one last time in sad XP
2004-05-08 [Faelover]: same category?
2004-05-08 [Doormat]: nah this time it's humor...i guess its part of the hilarity to lose by `1
2004-05-08 [Faelover]: aww- don't say that it aint over til its over
2004-05-08 [Doormat]: or maybe, in a sudden twist, lose by 5.
2004-05-08 [Faelover]: a pessimist maybe you should try the dark or sad categories lmao
2004-05-08 [Dil*]: he is in the dark category lol.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: the date for dark category to end was supposed to be the 7th....and on may the 7th i was winning XP
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: No, the date wasn't supposed to be the seventh...in an effort to regulate the dates a bit, all duels ended on the ninth, and will henceforth end on Sunday.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: you mean yesterday
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: Yes exactly. Yesterday was Sunday the ninth, like I said. *blinks*
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: :P dark poems should have ended...i was winning then XP
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: Lol. If you're really miffed, poll it over yourself, in your own poll section, with the permission of your opponent.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: but the duel got extended ><
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: As did every duel for every participant, unless they happened to end on Sunday.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: they all did ><
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: That's what I mean...they were all extended to sunday, unless they already ended there.
2004-05-11 [Therian]: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the hell over it. Good God.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: Hey....don't make me beat you with a sack of oranges
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: Don't expect an answer...don't think she watches this page.
2004-05-11 [Doormat]: Well someone has to get a sack beating :D
2004-05-11 [Nightshadow]: Hm. *points at Tal*
2004-05-11 [Tal Anduril]: *glares* and paints her room neon pink.
2004-05-11 [alequia]: so, how will i noe when one of my pieces is up for the running?? if im not mistaken, i submitted a couple....
2004-05-11 [Tal Anduril]: When your poem is dueling one of the staff will notify you.
2004-05-11 [Tal Anduril]: Also, I just want to make sure that this sign is very clear:
2004-05-12 [wildCARD]: MM! Thanks for the five time winner badge, voters!
2004-05-12 [alequia]: ohhhhh yeah.....i dont think you could miss it.....unless of course you were colorblind....
2004-05-16 [Karisla Sorium]: ouch thats really hurtin on sleepy eyes :S
2004-05-16 [Dil*]: gawd it's blinding.
2004-05-16 [LonelyTylenol]: Brr... I'm cold... Dude, mine is tied with another one in realistic. Go ahead and vote peoples.
2004-05-16 [adnihilo]: yeah and vote for love too, its been added a week for it
2004-05-16 [Starna]: Hey, how about you end the competition at the END of today? A lot of these werent tied this morning, and arent tied now. They were only tied for the 5 minutes you updated the page.
2004-05-17 [Tal Anduril]: People update when the have time to update, if you'd like to help, we could use it. Other than that, we all have lives, and the "end of today" is different for everyone, we're spread across quite a few time zones here.
2004-05-17 [Nightshadow]: There's just as much chance that the "end of the day" happens to be the instant it's tied, anyway.
2004-05-17 [LonelyTylenol]: Time zones, exactly. About.. well... a lot of them were tied earlier today, when I was hanging over my sister's shoulder.
2004-05-17 [LonelyTylenol]: Hey, I just realized, looks like everyone has a challenger. Or you got rid of the "awaiting challengers" section. But I'm going with the first.
2004-05-17 [Forever Yours]: what does "awaiting evaluation" mean?
2004-05-17 [LonelyTylenol]: Oops. I found the awaiting challengers section. It's on the dueling arena. awaiting evaluation means that it hasnt' been approved by one of the people running this wiki yet.
